Accessibility update from Fabiana
Next year (28th June 2025), the European Accessibility Act (EAA) will kick in, affecting all the EU countries and the organisations and companies who work with those countries.
The EAA covers a wide range of products and services, including personal devices like computers and smartphones, public services such as ATMs and kiosks, ticketing machines, public transport services, banking services and e-commerce websites.
So, let’s roll up our sleeves and set ourselves up for success!

Care to share?
I’m currently working on a new resource, something to help people who are looking for work or employment in web to create an effective portfolio website. I wrote a post about this a little while ago A designer’s portfolio which includes a few examples. But for this new little mini site, I would really love to include more examples, especially yours ツ
So if you have a portfolio, especially if it served you well, and if you don’t mind me including and sharing it ~ would you mind emailing me with your link?
State of the Browser
A little reminder about the next State of the Browser coming up in September! It really always is a brilliant day, filled with inspiring talks, brilliant speakers and a whole lot of wonderful people.
Tickets are still available and we hope to see you there! ツ

Vivaldi
Talking of browsers – I used Vivaldi many years ago and it was my favourite for browsing for quite some time. Then some updates caused glitches and I went back to Firefox. Recently, Bruce Lawson posted on Mastodon that he is now back working with the Vivaldi team. This prompted me to try out the latest version ~ and it’s brilliant again. It’s superfast, secure and private. My favourite feature being the split view in the browser to compare pages ~ excellent tool for designing ツ Well worth a trial run at least – take a look at the features.
Free books ツ
As A Book Apart has closed its doors – they have done a wonderful thing: they returned the rights to the original authors and it looks like many of them are now opting to make theirs available for free, some to read online, others with download options ~ just amazing! Here are 2 I just have to share as they are simply too good to miss ツ
There’s Chris Coyier’s ‘Practical SVG’, available to read online, and Jason Santa Maria’s ‘On Web Typography’, available to download. Soon, there’ll also be the absolutely brilliant ‘Design for real life’ available too, as Eric announced in his blog post. I’ll make sure to share the link in due course.
Ok, that’s it for today – and please, if there’s anything you’d like me to include in the next newsletter, do let me know ツ
All the best, Prisca
