wayfinder

The wind picks up
The moon casts azure shadows
Dissolving into mist

Wayfinder is a lovely little game you should explore for the sheer joy of it ツ It allows you to explore a landscape in the most charming way. It is hard to describe ~ so here is the artist statement which will give you a sense of what to expect.

My goal with Wayfinder is not to create a particularly challenging game or deeply narrative experience, but to capture a few fleeting moments of nature—the pitter-patter of rain-drops, softly swirling snowflakes, sun filtering through pine branches, a distant crash of thunder—and encompass them into a brief digital experience. Delivering this through a browser creates an accessible and immediate virtual window, allowing the user to step into this digital escape as effortlessly and seamlessly as opening an online news article, or following a link in a tweet. Wayfinder is the culmination of my many years of creative coding and generative art, and a natural succession to my earlier game art projects such as Bellwoods (2018). I approach this space not as a traditional game-maker, but as an artist working with code and generative processes, attempting to evoke poetry and emotion through the audience’s otherwise everyday online experience.
